Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that prohibits sex discrimination in education. It reads: “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and its implementing regulation at 34 C.F.R. Part 106 (Title IX).
Effective August 14, 2020, The Title IX rule creates a new specific process by which postsecondary institutions must manage covered sexual harassment complaints on campus. North Central Institute will be using the training resources provided by Thompson Coburn LLP to provide training to individuals that will help administer this required process. The training provided by Thompson Coburn LLP will cover the following topics:
Module 1 – An Introduction to Managing Title IX Sexual Harassment on Campus;
Module 2 – Formal Complaints of Title IX Sexual Harassment;
Module 3 – Title IX Investigations & Informal Resolutions;
Module 4 – Title IX Hearings;
Module 5 – Title IX Determinations;
Module 6 – Title IX Appeals.

In the absence of the above, the President will become the interim Title IX Coordinator. This responsibility will remain in place until such position is filled. North Central Institute will utilize assistance from the Executive office for the position of Investigator. The Investigator will assist and work with the Title IX Coordinator in conducting a fair, objective, and impartial investigation.
